Radka & Craig opened Fire & Stone here in January of 2010. They took over Capalbo's pizza restaurant at the edge of historical village of Cortez and refurbished it. They installed a brick lined oven, with stone chamber and everlasting flame. It is the only brick lined oven pizza buffet in the county. I know you may normally be turned off by the idea of a pizza buffet, but honestly, this place is an really good.
Fire & Stone grates and blends their own natural cheeses daily. Their homemade soups, freshly prepared and cooked daily, are immensely popular here. To name few soups... Sweet & Sour Cabbage, French Onion, Chicken Noodle, Chicken Dumpling, Beef & Broccoli, Split Pea and other varieties of bean soups.
Non-pizza options include homemade lasagna, eggplant and chicken parmesan. Homemade marinara sauce, meat sauce meatballs and our Italian sausage from New Jersey for our pasta dishes are the good old popular favorites.
Parking is limited. If you can't find a parking spot, know that you will be waiting inside or outside once you do find a spot.
They've since opened another restaurant on nearby Anna Maria Island at Bridge St and Gulf Drive (Bradenton Beach). It's a sit down Italian restaurant and not a buffet. We haven't been there yet, but the reviews are very positive. Similar to this restaurant in that they only take cash and have fresh, homemade food coupled with reasonable prices.
